The first band which performed that evening was Dawn of Tears. This band belongs
to Death / Black Metal, and they were the first ones in playing and encouraging
the audience. This band has been playing for more than a year in many concert
rooms and making way in the metal music, although it was formed in 1.999. Nobody
in the audience expected that a extreme metal band performed in this gig, and
despite there weren’t many fans of this style of metal music, they showed their
music successfully, and they could make a warm atmosphere in the room through
fast guitar riffs, great keyboards and the powerful singer’s voice, who did
not stop moving at the stage, well in fact the whole band did not stop moving
at the stage.
This band played during half an hour, besides the sound in the room was perfect,
so they had a perfect performance at the stage. It was a great beginning for
the evening.

After the break and the change of all the material at the stage, Westfallenpark
entered to play. This Spanish band was formed two years ago, and they are becoming
very popular because of the several concerts they are doing and the support
that have offered to many important metal music groups. For instance Westfallenpark
could support Leaves’ Eyes in this same concert room in September. With this
band, we had an important change, because the first band had a guttural voice
and this band had a soprano voice thanks to her singer, Grace Taylor.
This band has only released two minicds, titled “Scars in the Sand” and “Fallen
Angels”, although at this moment, the band is working on new songs. Their style
is difficult to define, but we could include them within Dark Metal, but always
remarking their characteristic singer’s voice, which is the sign of this band.
During the gig, there was something which surprised the audience, because the
band played Madonna’s cover “Like a Prayer”, when they always played Within
Temptation’s cover “Ice Queen”. This was Westfallenpark’s setlist:

Finally, about 10:30 PM, Charon entered the stage with the concert room completely
crowded, and with the singer, J.P. (Juha-Pekka) Lepäluotto as the head of the
band. This was their first tour as head band in Spain. They came to present
their fifth album “Songs for the Sinners”, which was released in 2.005, although
not only they presented this album, because they offered a great variety of
songs from their albums. The band is formed by: J.P. Lepäluotto (singer), Pasi
Sipilä (guitar), Teemu Hautamäki (bass guitar) , Lauri Tuohimaa (guitar) and
Antti Karihtala (drums). They played for an hour and twenty minutes.
They began with their song “4 Seasons Rush” from their album Tearstained, and
they caught the audience quickly. The sound was perfect, and the whole band
had a wonderful show, they did it really great. There were many songs which
made the atmosphere in the room warmer, such as “Bitter Joy” which was the first
song that encouraged the audience through the heavy guitars and the characteristic
melancholy of this band. When they played the first single of their last album,
“Ride on Tears”, J.P. ask for collaboration of the audience, who was waiting
for a powerful song like this, and everyone jumped and cheered the song until
the end of it. This was the favourite song by now.
The next song that made people go crazy was the second single of their last
album, “Colder”. As the audience heard the female voice of the intro of the
song, everyone was cheering. J.P. rose the microphone asking for the audience
collaboration again, and everyone in the crowded room began to jump and dance
again despite this was not a very powerful song like “Ride on Tears”, but it
was a very expected song as well. “Deep Water” and “Craving” were another songs
which made the audience go crazy.
But the highest moment was when J.P. began to sing “Little Angel”, single from
their album Downhearted. This song is the most important one for the band everywhere
they go. This was the most expected song of the gig. Everyone in the crowded
room began to sing softly with J.P. until suddenly the whole band entered the
song with a heavy sound, which made people go crazy again.
After their fantastic show, many people waited for the band to take some photographs
with Charon’s members, because they will not come again to Spain for so long.
They have finished their Spanish tour and all their planned shows by now, because
they are going to work on their next album, so we will have to wait for so long
to watch them again at the stage.
