No sabemos como lo hicimos, pero llamamos al local de ensayo de Belzebubs y pudimos hablar con Obesyx y Sløth, Guitarra solista y guitarra y voces de esta peculiar banda…. que hace tiempo sacaron su «Pantheon of the Nightside Gods» a través de Century Media y queríamos saber como les va, que piensan de JP Ahonen, su no gira y su futuro más inmediato… Esto es lo que nos cuentan…

M.S: Hola, es un placer que estés en nuestra página, ¿quién nos habla?
Obesyx: Gracias por invitarnos. Somos Obesyx y Sløth.
Sløth: Hola. Pido disculpas por adelantado si la llamada finaliza de golpe. Estamos en el local ensayando y la recepción es bastante mala.
M.S: Han pasado varios meses desde que salió su vuestro disco «Pantheon of the Nightside Gods», ¿qué feedback reciben de la gente?
Sløth: ¡En general ha sido realmente bueno, creo! Hemos recibido muchos comentarios positivos, en su mayoría críticas de 8-10 estrellas y todo, así que obviamente es para estar muy contentos.
Obesyx: Sí, creo que la gente estaba bastante sorprendida de que pudiéramos lograr un disco tan bueno y sólido, jajaja. Aún así, creo que nadie está tan sorprendido como nosotros, ya sabes. Hemos tenido tanta suerte durante años que creo que todos estábamos esperando que ocurriera el próximo gran golpe. Seguramente hubo un par de contratiempos, pero nada importante.
Sløth: Sí, es un sentimiento extraño.
M.S: Un honor trabajar con Century Media, ¿verdad? Imaginamos que contentos con el trabajo que han hecho para el lanzamiento del álbum …
Sløth: Century Media se mostraron muy entusiasmados con nuestro nuevo sonido desde nuestra demo, por lo que se han portado genial.
Obesyx: Sí, ¡salud, chicos!
M.S: Sobre todo JP Ahonen, no sabemos si lo conocéis … Tal vez pueda haceros algún vídeo para vosotros…
Sløth: Oh sí, lo conocemos. Él ha estado detrás nuestro todo el rato, así que ya nos hemos acostumbrado a él. Pero tal como dijimos, pensamos principalmente en él como ese primo un poco lento que todos tenemos, que es un poco extraño y se queda en la esquina como un pervertido sudoroso.
Obesyx: Stalker.
Sløth: Pero tiene buenas intenciones.
M.S: No sabemos si Dan Swäno os aguantó en la grabación, ¿cómo fue dejar vuestro mundo de aventuras para llevaros a un estudio de grabación?
Obesyx: Sí, Dan mezcló y masterizó el álbum. La grabación fue en los Hellhole Studios por nuestro colega Fuzzy.
Sløth: Dans el hombre! Trabajó como un caballo. Creo que éramos clientes muy exigentes muy meticulosos y teníamos todo tipo de perversiones, solicitudes y preferencias extrañas, pero pudo satisfacer todas nuestras necesidades.
Obesyx: Ok, eso sonó un poco mal.
Sløth: Sí, parecía mejor en mi cabeza.
Obesyx: Ella te dijo lo mismo.
Sløth: De todos modos, Dan fue capaz de mezclar solos increibles, latidos explosivos visuales y elementos sinfónicos etéreos juntos con mucha fluidez, mientras le daba a la mezcla un ambiente único, difuso y de la vieja escuela. Estamos muy contentos.
M.S: Ya que de momento no tocáiss en vivo, ¿dónde podemos comprar vuestras camisetas?
Sløth: Puedes comprar nuestro merchandising en nuestra tienda oficial en Backstage Rock Shop, via EMP y Century Media, por ejemplo.
M.S: ¿Cómo promocionáis un disco sin hacer una gira?
Obesyx: Eh, no lo hacemos realmente.
Sløth: Sí, no nos gusta imponer nuestras opiniones o productos a las personas, así que básicamente dejamos que el álbum hable por sí mismo, básicamente.
M.S: ¿Tienes material para hacer un nuevo álbum? ¿U os llevará un poco más de tiempo para que JP pueda vivir más tranquilamente?
Obesyx: ¡Hubbath y yo ya estamos trabajando en nuevo material! Creo que aprendimos mucho durante Pantheon of the Nightside Gods y obtuvimos algunos contactos nuevos: Skvllcraft, Desibelius, ICS Vortex, etc., así que espero con ansias lo que nos trae el futuro. Por lo que parece, podríamos llevar el próximo álbum a un nivel sinfónico y progresivo completamente nuevo.
M.S: Íbamos a preguntaros sobre la gira, pero creemos que será difícil … ¿sucederá algún día?
Sløth: Se hará. Solo estábamos buscando financiación, ahora mismo. La filmación del video de The Cathedrals of Mourning arruinó nuestro presupuesto.

M.S: Hello, it is a pleasure that you are on our page, who speaks to us?
Obesyx: Thanks for having us. It’s Obesyx and Sløth here.
Sløth: Hi there. I apologise in advance if the call ends abruptly. We’ve currently at the rehearsal space and the reception is quite terrible.
M.S: It’s been several months since your new album “Pantheon of the nightside gods” has come out, what feedback do you get from people?
Sløth: Overall it’s been really good, I think! We’ve received a lot of good feedback, mostly 8–10 star reviews and everything, so we’re obviously very pleased.
Obesyx: Yeah, I think people were quite surprised that we actually were able to pull off such a good, solid record, hahaha. Still, I think no-one’s as surprised as we are, you know. We’ve had such shit luck for years that I believe we were all just waiting for the next big blow to happen. Surely there were a couple of setbacks, but nothing major.
Sløth: Yes, it’s a bizarre feeling.
M.S: An honor can work via Century Media, right? We imagine that happy with the work they have done for the album release …
Sløth: Century Media has been very enthusiastic about our new sound ever since our demo, so they’ve been great.
Obesyx: Yeah, cheers, guys!
M.S: Above all JP Ahonen, we don’t know if you know him… Maybe I can do some video to make of you …
Sløth: Oh yeah, we know him. He’s been on our asses as long as I can remember, so we’ve come used to him by now. But just like we told, uh…Metal Circus, if my memory serves me right, we mainly think of him as like that slightly slow cousin everyone has, who’s a bit weird and just hangs around in the corner like a sweaty pervert.
Obesyx: Stalker.
Sløth: But he means well.
M.S: We don’t know if Dan Swäno endured you on the recording, how was it to leave your adventure world to get you into a recording studio?
Obesyx: Yeah, Dan mixed and mastered the album. The recording was done at Hellhole Studios by our old buddy Fuzzy.
Sløth: Dan’s the man! Worked like a horse. I think we were very meticulous, anal clients and had all sorts of weird perversions, requests and preferences, but he was able to satisfy all our needs.
Obesyx: Ok, that sounded a bit…wrong.
Sløth: Yeah, it felt better in my head.
Obesyx: That’s what she said.
Sløth: Anyhow, Dan was able to blend luscious solos, viscious blastbeats and ethereal symphonic elements together very fluently, while still giving the mix a unique, fuzzy, old school vibe. We’re very happy.
M.S: Since at the moment you don’t play live, where can we buy your shirts?
Sløth: You can buy our merch from our official store at Backstage Rock Shop, or via EMP and Century Media, for example.
M.S: How do you promote a record without doing a tour?
Obesyx: Uh…we don’t, really.
Sløth: Yeah, we don’t like to force our opinions or products upon people, so we’ve just let the album speak for itself, basically.
M.S: Do you have material to make a new album? Or will it take you a little longer and so JP can live more quietly?
Obesyx: Hubbath and I are already working on new material! I think we learned a lot during Pantheon of the Nightside Gods and got some new contacts: Skvllcraft, Desibelius, ICS Vortex, etc. so I’m looking forward to what the future brings. From the looks of things, we might be taking the next album to a whole new symphonic and progressive level.
M.S: We were going to ask you about the tour but we think it will be difficult … will it happen some day?
Sløth: It will. We’re just looking into funding, right now. The Cathedrals of Mourning video shoot kind of wrecked our budget.
