Interesándonos por las bandas del próximo Heidenfest, hablamos con Winterstorm… que nos hablan como afrontan la actuación en ese festival itinerante, su próximo disco, y muchas más cosas en estas declaraciones de la banda.

Os habéis incorporado al Heidenfest este año. ¿Como se siente al ser parte de uno de los más importantes y conocidos tours europeos?
Siempre nos encanta estar de gira. Pero a veces incluso nos encanta más! Estamos muy contentos de formar parte de este tour.
Sobre las bandas que forman parte del Heidenfest, ¿cuales son vuestras favoritas? ¿Con cual tenéis más ganas de compartir escenario?
Yo no diría que tenemos preferencia alguna por los grupos que tocan. Ya compartimos escenario con muchos de ellos, así que estamos muy contentos de tocar con nuevas bandas y luego poder charlar con nuestros viejos amigos en el backstage y en el bus!
¿Como una banda como vosotros experimentáis la oportunidad de tocar en una gira de estas características?
Primero de todo, es genial tener un autobús de gira, ya que así puedes disfrutar del tour mucho más, ya que te permite concentrarte en los conciertos y en la música.
¿Los fans pueden esperar alguna sorpresa en vuestro set-list para estos conciertos?
Como siempre, ¡si!
¿Cuales son vuestros planes inmediatos después del tour del Heidenfest?
Acabar nuestro álbum lo más rápido posible y luego concentrarnos en la promoción.
Habéis estado muy ocupados trabajando en vuestro próximo disco, que verá la luz el año que viene. ¿Cómo ha sido el proceso creativo?
Ha sido diferente respecto a todo lo que hemos hecho anteriormente. Hemos intentado un nuevo estilo para componer donde todos hemos podido poner nuestras ideas en común. Era algo que en el pasado nos daba algo de miedo. Ahora, con un poco más de experiencia, nos hemos sentido suficientemente valientes para gestionarlo.
¿Tenéis la sensación de que vuestros fans tienen grandes expectativas cada vez que publicáis un nuevo álbum? ¿Prestáis mucha atención a las críticas?
Por supuesto que si. Este es un trabajo que nos ha llevado un año de escribir y probar cosas nuevas. Quieres saber lo que todos piensan sobre él. Aunque intentamos poner algo de distancia, no tomarnos demasiado en serio y no sentirnos ofendidos si nos topamos con una mala crítica. Nos lo tomamos objetivamente para continuar manteniendo nuestro estilo sin que nos afecte.
Vuestras letras hablan de batallas y fantasía. ¿Cómo os inspiráis para escribir sobre tales temas?
Si, nuestro último disco era una historia conceptual basada en algo que se inventó Alex, nuestro cantante. Él nos presenta una visión general de la historia, y todos aportamos nuestra visión. Entonces Alex toma las partes más importantes y escribe las letras para explicar esa historia en detalle. Para nuestro próximo album estamos trabajando en un universo parecido, pero con un hilo de historia distinto.
Habéis sido comparados con grupos como Blind Guardian o Rhapsody. ¿Cuales son vuestras principales influencias?
Por supuesto hemos escuchado a ambos grupos y es inevitable acabar con un estilo parecido al de ellos. Partiendo de esta comparación, tenemos una gama un más amplia de lo que la mayoría puede imaginar. Tenemos bandas en común que nos gustan a los cinco, como Blind Guardian o Sabaton. Pero al mismo tiempo, todos escuchamos música completamente distinta, como Hans Zimmer, Parkway Drive, blues, jazz, clásica y música de videojuegos. Creo que esto es lo que define nuestro estilo. Tenemos influencias de todas partes.

– You are joining Heidenfest this year, how does it feel to be part of one of the most important and well known tours in Europe?
It always feels great to be on tour. But sometimes it feels even a little better! We are very glad to be part of this tour.
– About the bands taking part in the tour, which are your favourite ones? Which ones are you more excited to share stage with?
I would not say we prefere any of the bands playing. We already shared stage with a lot of them, therefor we are most excited to play with new bands and later talk to our old friends in backstage and the bus!
– How does a band like you experience playing in a tour like this?
First of all it is great to have a nightliner. Then you can enjoy the tour even more because you can concentrate on the show and the music even more.
– Can fans expect any surprises in your set-list or in your show?
As always, YES!
– Which are your immediate plans as a band after this tour?
Finish our album very quickly and then focus on promotion.
– You have been busy working on your next album which is going to be released next year, How was the creative process?
It was different from anything else we ever did. We tried out a new wirting stile where everybody was able to get his own ideas in the running process. This was one thing we were afraid of in the past. Now with a little experiance we were brave enough to manage it.
– Do you feel that your fans have great expectations every time you release a new album? Do you guys pay much attention to reviews?
Sure you do. This is work which is worth a year of writing and trying out new things. You want to know everything somebody else is thinking about it.
Though we are doing this with a little distance. We don’t take it to serious and we are not resentful looking back to a “bad” review. We take it factual and try to keep our stile no matter what.
– Your lyrics talk about fantasy and battles, where does the inspiration to write about these topics comes from?
Yes. Our last album was a concept story based on a story made up by Alex, our singer. He presents the band a rough overview about the story which is then refined by all members. Then Alex pics out the most important parts and writes the lyrics to tell the story one by one. For the next album we are trying the same storyuniverse but a different place and storyline.
– You have been compared to bands like Blind Guardian or Rhapsody, which are your main influences?
Sure we did listen to them and inevitably you are picking up some stileparts from them. But if this makes up a comparison base then we have a even wider range than most can imagine. We all five got some bands we all like, like Blind Guardian or Sabaton. But at the same time we all hear totaly different musik like Hans Zimmer, Parkway Drive, Blues, Jazz, Classical stuff and computergame themes.
I think this is what makes out our stile. We got several influences from everywhere.
