M.S: Hola, gracias por compartir unos minutes con nosotros respondiendo a estas preguntas. Antes de nada ¿cómo estás?
Eydis: Estoy bien. Ahora mismo hace mucho calor en Polonia para mí pero…
Utis: Oh vamos! Somos valientes y hermosos y estamos preparados para rockear! Pero es cierto, hace tanto calor como en el infierno!
M.S: Como es la primera vez que os entrevistamos en Metal Symphony, nos gustaría que os presentarais vosotros mismos a nuestros lectores hablando un poco más de dónde venís, como formasteis la banda, cuales son vuestras influencias…
Utis: Venimos del siglo XIX (era Victoriana, Belle Epoque) de donde viene el corazón de la fantasía –cuando la atención del hombre se dirige a los seres perfectos y el mundo de los poderes invisibles es tan importante como la realidad- Y cuando fue un tiempo de grandes descubrimientos e inventos, era el momento de las máquinas de vapor y de la fe en el poder infinito de la mente humana
Empezamos esta aventura en 2010 y en 2012 editamos nuestro disco debut, “Revival”, y ahora estamos trabajando en el siguiente (en el digno sucesor). Estoy seguro que podrás escuchar algunas canciones en el MFVF aunque lo más importante para nosotros es el mensaje que queremos difundir!
No importa quién seas o lo que hagas, no importa tu futuro ni tu pasado, no se trata de aquello que quieras sino que tu puedes hacer grandes cosas porque tu momento es ahora, muéstranos lo valiente que eres y nunca dejes de perseguir tus sueños!
M.S: Para aquellos que no han escuchado vuestra música aún, qué canciones recomendarías para que puedan tener una idea de vuestro sonido?
Utis: ¿Bromeas… una canción? En mi opinión sería “Who Never Loved” pero te sugiero algo más potente como “Descent of Your Destiny”.
Eydis: En mi caso no es posible responder a tu pregunta porque tengo muchas canciones del nuevo disco en mi cabeza en este momento y noto que nuestro estilo ha cambiado. Por ello “la idea de nuestro sonido” es ahora algo diferente, por supuesto sigue siendo Metal Sinfónico, sin lugar a dudas! Pero algo ha cambiado…
M.S: ¿Tenéis algún material disponible para comprar o descargar? Si es así, ¿donde podríamos acudir para escucharlo?
Eydis: Nos puedes encontrar en: iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, Deezer y algunas otras plataformas digitales.
M.S: Después de 11 años ¿qué crees que MFVF tiene que ofrecer aún al público?
Utis: Una experiencia inolvidable! Se puede escuchar música en cualquier momento y en cualquier lugar pero cuando la gente se reúne para escuchar este estilo concreto de música, cuando tenemos sirenas en el escenario, orquestaciones mágicas y la fuerza del ritmo entonces la experiencia se comparte con otras personas. Es maravilloso!!!
M.S: Y por vuestra parte, ¿qué vais a ofrecer a la gente que vaya a ver vuestra actuación?
Utis: Queremos dar a la gente la sensación que son parte de algo más grande, que con la ayuda de la música se convertirán en invencibles y descubrirán cuán extraordinarios son! Porque lo son!
M.S: ¿Veréis a alguno de vuestros artistas favoritos cuando le toque actuar?
Utis: Anneke… ehhhhh!
Eydis: Oh yeah! Sin duda, Anneke! La adoro y durante su último concierto en Polonia me enamoré de ella aún más. Ella emana energía de locura y positivismo en el escenario. Quiero volver a sentirlo de nuevo.
M.S: Si surgiese la posibilidad de hacer una jam session con miembros participantes en el MFVF ¿a quién escogerías? Puedes elegir más de un nombre por puesto.
Utis: Esa es la cuestión!

M.S: En otros festivales no hay más que un par de grupos del género femme-metal y normalmente los elegidos son escogidos de entre los que llevan en activo durante 10 años o más… grupos como Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil… ¿Qué opinas de este tema?
Utis: Yo preferiría decir que son los que han cosechado un mayor éxito. Creo que es bastante justo. Hay un montón de grandes bandas y lo son por algún motivo. Cualquiera de esas bandas o trabaja duro para conseguir su éxito o están dirigidas por un genio. Debemos apreciarlos! Si quieres ser el mejor, tocar con los mejores y competir con los mejores y no tienes a un genio de tu lado debes esforzarte más.
Y en este punto no importa si tocas Metal sinfónico, Pop, Pock o Deathcore. Nuestro trabajo es convencer a la gente que escuche nuestra música.
MS: Profundizando más en el tema ¿crees que todavía le queda vida a este estilo? ¿Hay más por explorar dentro de “las conocidas voces líricas con la música metal”? Sabemos que hay grupos con voces guturales (incluso femeninas) y otros están tratando de mezclar esta música con otros estilos como la electrónica u otros pero todavía hay gente que no ve más allá de esta primera opción…
Utis: Creo que a esto se le puede llamar amor por la clasificación de los estilos y eso fue creado en los noventa cuando bandas como Nightwish o Within Temptation aparecieron de repente. Hoy en día vemos que el funcionamiento de una banda dentro de un estilo musical es muy difícil…
Eydis: Estoy de acuerdo, se puede percibir metal femenino de dos formas: la primera es el amor por la tradición y la segunda es la búsqueda de nuevas soluciones y nuevos sonidos que inviten probar y experimentar nuevos sonidos. Cualquier estilo musical evoluciona y el metal femenino también. Todo depende de los gustos, los músicos y los fans. En otras palabras, cada persona encontrará algo que le llene y mientras eso ocurra se seguirá creando música ya sea de una forma tradicional o moderna pero la música siempre va a llamar la atención. ¿Será diferente cuando veas a bellas mujeres escuchando sus voces sobrenaturales? (Risas) Creo que no hay futuro para ellas!
M.S: Cambiando de tema ¿qué os mantiene ocupados en estos días? ¿Tenéis grabaciones o conciertos además del MFVF?
Eydis: Estamos en modo multitarea! Nuestra prioridad es nuestro nuevo disco, además estamos trabajando en nuestro nuevo vestuario y trabajando en dos juegos que, hasta cierto punto, implican a Victorians. Después de varios conciertos decidimos tomarnos un tiempo para hacer todas estas cosas.
M.S: El MFVF reúne a bandas de varios países ¿cuales nos recomendarías de vuestro país?
Eydis: Solo conozco dos bandas que puedan calificarse como metal femenino que son At the Lake y Electric Chair. Me encantaría verlas en el MFVF, sería fantástico!
M.S: Llegamos al final. Es todo por nuestra parte pero si queréis añadir algo más es el momento de hacerlo. Gracias por vuestro tiempo. Os deseamos lo mejor para el futuro y para el festival.

M.S: Hi, thanks a lot for taking a few minutes to answer to our questions. First of all, how are you?
Eydis: I’m fine. Actually is too hot in Poland for me but…
Utis: Oh come on! We’re bold and beautiful and ready to rock! But true it’s hot as hell!
M.S: As it is the first time we get to have an interview with you here at Metal Symphony, we’d like you to introduce yourselves to our readers talking a bit about where are you coming from, how was your band formed, what are your influences…
Utis: We’re from XIX century (Victorian Era, Belle Epoque), which is both the heart of fantasy, when man’s attention turns to the perfect beings and the world of invisible powers is just as important as the real one AND a time of great discoveries and inventions, the time of steam engines and faith in the infinite power of the human mind 🙂
We have started this adventure in 2010, in 2012 we released our debut album “Revival” and now we are working on the next one (on the worthy successor 🙂 I’m sure that you will hear a few new tracks at MFVF. But what is more important for us is the message that we want to spread!
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, it’s not about your future or past, you can be whatever you want, you can do great things because your time is now, so show us how brave you are, never stop until you reach your dreams!
M.S: For those who haven’t listened to your music yet, which songs would you strongly recommend for them to have an idea of your sound?
Utis: You kidding me… one song? Well, in my opinion it could be ‘Who Never Loved’ but I suggest to you something more powerful like “Descent of Your Destiny”.
Eydis: Answering this question is not feasible in my case 😉 That’s because I have many pieces from our new album in my head at the moment and I can see how our style has changed. So the ‘idea of our sound’ it’s now a little bit different 🙂 Of course, it’s still symphonic metal! Without a doubt! But something has changed…
M.S: Do you have any material available to purchase or download? If so, where can people go to get it or listen to it?

M.S: After 11 years, what do you think the MFVF still has to offer to the audience?
Utis: Remarkable experience! Each of us can listen to music anytime, anywhere but if people gather to listen to this particular genre when we have sirens on the stage, magical orchestrations and power of the rhythm – this is the experience that you share with other people. It’s beautiful!!!
M.S: And on your side, what will you offer to the people that will go there and see your performance?
Utis: We want to give people the feeling that they are part of something bigger, that with the help of music they will become invincible and discover how much they are extraordinary! Because they are!
M.S: Any favourites you intend to see on the fest when they are on stage?
Utis: Anneke… ehhhhh 🙂
Eydis: Oh yeah! without a doubt, Anneke! I love her and during her last concert in Poland I fell in love with her even more. She emanates with a crazy and extremely positive energy on stage. I want to feel it again 🙂
M.S: If a jam session could happen with any members of those participating in this MFVF’s edition’s line-up, who would be your chosen ones for? More than one name is possible 😉

M.S: Talking about other fests, you usually don’t get more than a couple of bands off the femme-metal genre, and normally, the chosen ones tend to be picked up from those who have been active for more than 10 years or so, bands like Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil… What’s your opinion on this issue?
Utis: I would rather say that they are selected from those who had the greatest success 🙂 I think it’s quite fair. There are a lot of great bands, but they are great for some reason. Either they worked very hard for their success, or are led by a genius. We should appreciate it! So if you want to be the best, play with the best and compete with the best and if you do not have a genius by your side, you must try harder 🙂
And in this point it doesn’t matter if you play symphonic metal, pop rock or death core. Our job is to convince people to listen to our music.
MS: And going deeper into this topic, do you consider there’s still life for the genre? Is there more to explore beyond the "so well-know lyrical voices with metal music"? We know there are bands with guttural voices (even female ones), and others are trying mixing this music with other types like electronic and some others, but there’s still people who won’t look further from that first notion…
Utis: I think you can call it a love for the classification of genres, which was founded in the 90s, when bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation suddenly appeared. Nowadays we see that the functioning of the band within one music genre is already very difficult…
Eydis: I agree, we can perceive female metal in two ways: first is a love for tradition and the second is about searching for new solutions and new sounds, which invite to pave new ways and to experiment. Each music evolves and so is female metal. It all goes about one’s liking, musicians and fans. In other words each person will find something for him and the music will continue to be created. Either in a modern or traditional way the music will always attract attention. Can it be different when looking at beautiful women listening to their unearthly voices? (laughs) I believe that there is future for it! 🙂
M.S: Changing topics, what are you up to these days? Any concert or recording apart from the fest?
Eydis: we are practicing multitasking! The priority is our new CD, furthermore we are working on new clothes, and working on 2 games involving Victorians to some extent. After a few concerts we took some time to focus on those tasks 😉
M.S: The MFVF gathers bands from very different countries together, which ones would you recommend from your own country?
Eydis: I know only two bands that I could call female metal and that would be At the Lake and Electric Chair. I’d love to see them at MFVF, they are pretty good 🙂
