M.S: Hola, gracias por contestar a nuestras preguntas. ¿Cómo estás?
Gabriella: Hola, gracias por darnos la oportunidad para la entrevista, de hecho estamos extremadamente ocupados, ¡lo cuál es bueno! Además de estar preparándonos para el MFVF, estamos también grabando y produciendo nuevo material. Hay cierta expectación por grupo estos días, todo el mundo está ocupado, ¡pero sienta muy bien!
M.S: Como todavía no habéis tocado en España, ¿podríais presentaros a nuestros lectores? Dinos algo sobre cuándo y cómo se formó el grupo, vuestra situación actual y trabajo…
Gabriella: Si es cierto, pero con un poco de suerte tocaremos en España pronto, ¡nos encantaría! Somos de Hungría, sobre todo de las afueras de Budapest. La historia del grupo se remonta a 2006, cuando empezamos con la idea de crear un proyecto conjunto a pesar de que todos tocábamos en grupos diferentes, y tocamos metal sinfónico pero con unas pequeñas variaciones, no hay voces operísticas y tenemos un ligero estilo metálico más moderno. Nuestro primer disco salío a la luz en 2009, tan sólo dos años despues de crear el grupo. Se lanzó a través de una discográfica internacional holandesa, por lo que se puede encontrar en muchos sitios.
M.S: Si alguien quisiera recopilar información vuestra, ¿dónde podrían escucharos o comprar vuestros discos?
Csaba : Si estás buscando información sobre el grupo, estamos presentes en la mayoría de las redes sociales. En internet, podéis escuchar nuestra música o echar un vistazo a nuestros videos en Youtube, etc. Si lo que buscas es comprar el disco, está prácticamente disponible en la mayoría de las grandes superficies, como Virgin Mega, HMV, Amazon, pero también lo tenéis en iTunes y Rhapsody, etc. si lo queréis en la versión digital. Y si todo esto va mal, siempre podéis enviarnos un mail y nos alegrará enviaros cd’s
M.S: ¿Cómo se puso en contacto con vosotros la organización de MFVF? ¿Les enviasteis primero vuestro material?, u ¿os llamaron? Estoy seguro de que estáis más que orgullosos por participar en este festival que se celebra cada año, ¿verdad?
Csaba: Nuestro caso es un poco diferente, ya que estamos dirigidos por la agencia 2Wild4 y nuestro manager Phil es, también de hecho, una de las figuras más representativas en el MFVF. Si, estamos muy contentos por tocar en la edición de este año, y estamos seguros de que este año va a ser un gran espectáculo, con muchos grandes grupos de este género.
M.S: Hoy en día, ¿diríais que tener mujeres en un grupo de metal os deja en un segundo puesto respecto al resto de grupos de la escena del metal? Quiero decir, en el resto de los festivales de metal nos podemos encontrar sólo 2 ó 3 mujeres al frente de grupos. ¿Consideráis que MFVF es una buena forma, para grupos como el vuestro, de tener la oportunidad de tocar en grandes escenarios?
Gabriella: ¡Ya me han hecho esta pregunta muchas veces! Bueno, supongo que la música metal no es, en verdad, un "estilo femenino" y este estereotipo se mantiene vivo en la mayoría de los seguidores del metal. Es menos problemático, para los técnicos de sonido, trabajar con cantantes masculinos y hacer rugir las guitarras detrás de ellas. Si, naturalmente, pienso que es una muy buena oportunidad, el no solo ir a tocar en un gran local con buena calidad y sonido, sino también, tener la oportunidad de comercializar nuestra música a los miles de oyentes que son seguidores de este género.
M.S: MFVF se caracteriza principalmente por contratar grupos de diferentes países para que vayan a tocar a Bélgica, ¿cómo es la escena del metal en vuestro país? ¿Recomendáis algunas bandas a nuestros lectores?
Gabriella: La escena musical en Hungría está creciendo y está mejorando día a día, aunque todavía dista mucho de lo que quisieramos o de lo que hemos podido ver en otros paises. Hay grupos muy buenos en Hungría que no tienen la opción de darse a conocer por la falta de posibilidades, incluso habiendo algunos festivales importantes como Sziget o el Metalfest, estos se llenan de grupos internacionales. Puedes tener un grupo húngaro, pero raramente te darán el escenario principal.
M.S: Estaréis en la novena edición de MFVF, ¿qué grupos os gustaría ver?
Gabriella: Definitivamente querría ver a Amaranthe. Ya los hemos visto en directo en Hungría con Kamelot y Evergrey, ¡y son impresionantes! Por supuesto también a Diabulus in Musica, con quien entablamos amistad en el MetalFest en nuestro país, pero desgraciadamente no he podido verles aún en directo porque me estaba preparando para nuestra salida a escena, ¡si tenemos ocasión los veré esta vez!
M.S: Con respecto a vuestra actuación, ¿qué se va a encontrar el público en el escenario?
Csaba: No hacemos uso de efectos especiales ni de orquesta en directo si es lo que preguntas, aunque espero poder tener esa opción en algún momento. En realidad, somos de las pocas bandas que siempre tratamos de mantener el directo lo más limpio y simple como sea posible en el escenario, con el instrumental justo y necesario, así que podría decirse que es ”100% Velvet Seal puro y duro”. Tenemos un par de sorpresas, ¡así que veamos cuál entra en el programa!
M.S: Supongo que vais a tocar canciones de vuestro último disco “Lend me your wings”, ¿qué nos podéis contar de él?
Gabriella: "Lend Me Your Wings" fue nuestro disco debut, que sacamos poco después de la formación del grupo. Fue lanzado en mayo de 2009, aunque la copia maestra ya estaba lista en agosto de 2008, pero teníamos cosas que se interponían, por lo que llevó tiempo tener todo hecho de forma adecuada. Aunque las letras giren en torno a una historia similar y las canciones, musicalmente, sean similares también, no se trata de un disco conceptual. Desde entonces habríamos hecho, por supuesto, muchas cosas diferentes, pero aún así, no importa cuántos discos saques en la vida, el primero es siempre el primero y es especial.
M.S:Este disco se grabó hace 2 años, ya estáis pensando en grabar otro? Tenéis listo nuevo material? Podremos oír algo en el MFVF?
Csaba: De hecho, estamos en el estudio, trabajando en nuestro disco desde hace un tiempo. He estado trabajando en las guitarras y los arreglos sinfónicos, la percusión está ya acabada, así como la mayoría de las partes del bajo. La cosa es, este es un largo proceso y ya hemos grabado la mayor parte del disco, y esperábamos acabarlo y sacarlo muy pronto, a primero de año, pero desafortunadamente, siempre ocurre algún imprevisto que hace retrasarlo. Es bueno también, porque de esta manera, muchas de las canciones han sido elaboradas y han madurado con el tiempo, así que va a ser un buen progreso en la vida del grupo, una vez que sea lanzado. Definitivamente, tocaremos algunas canciones nuevas de nuestro disco, aunque como has dicho, también habrá canciones del anterior.
M.S: ¿Qué le diríais a la gente que va a asistir al festival?
Gabriella: Dado que ningún otro grupo de Hungría ha logrado estar en el festival, y seguro que teneis curiosidad por ver lo que podemos ofrecer, bromas a parte, no hay ningún otro festival en el mundo con bandas con cantantes que sean exclusivamente mujeres y además cuente con leyendas de la talla de Doro o Therion en el mismo escenario y durante tres días. Es un imprescindible para cualquiera que siga el género de metal con mujer al frente.
M.S: Después del festival, ¿Cuáles son vuestros proyectos más inmediatos?
Grabriella: Estaremos terminando el disco tan pronto lleguemos a casa, saldrán a la luz los primeros videos de los temas del segundo disco, y creo que también tenemos un par de conciertos en Hungría antes de final de año

M.S: Hi, thank you for answering our questions. How are you?
Gabriella: Hi, thanks for the opportunity for the interview, we are fine, actually extremely busy, which is good!!! Beside getting ready for MFVF, we are also recoding and producing new material. There is some excitement going on around the band these days, everybody is busy, but this feels really nice!
M.S: As you haven’t played in Spain yet, could you introduce yourselves to our readers? Tell us something about when and how the band was formed, your present situation and work…
Gabriella: Yes but hopefully soon we will play in Spain, we’d love to! We’re from Hungary, based out of Budapest. The history of the band goes back to 2006, when we have started the idea of creating a project band while everyone was playing in different formations already and we play symphonic metal music but with a slightly different approach, no operatic vocals and a little modern metal style. Our first album was released in 2009 just 2 years after forming the band. It was released by a Dutch record label internationally, so it is still being sold in most countries.
M.S: If someone wants to gather info about you, where could they listen to you or buy your albums?
Csaba: I you’re looking for some info about the band, we are present on most of the bigger social networking sites, Internet, you can listen to our music or check out some videos on Youtube, etc. If you’re looking out to buy the album it’ practically available in most of the stores I have seen it in Virgin Mega, HMV, AMAZON but also on Itunes and Rhapsody etc if you are looking for Digital versions. And if all fails they can always drop us a mail and we are happy to send CD-s.
M.S: How did the MFVF organization get in touch with you? Did you send them first your material? Or did they call you? I’m sure
you’ll be more than proud participating in this festival which is held every year, right?
Csaba: Our case is a little different, since we are being managed by of 2WILD4 Agency and our manager Phil is actually also one of the major figures in MFVF. Yes, we are very excited to play at this year’s edition, and I am sure it is going to be a great show, with so many great bands of the genre this year.
M.S: Nowadays, would you say that having women in a metal band leaves you in a second place concerning the rest of the bands in the metal scene? I mean, in the rest of the metal festivals you can find only 2 or 3 women fronted bands. Do you consider MFVF as a good way for bands like yours to have the chance to play in big venues?
Gabriella: I have been asked this question already a lot of times! Well, I guess metal music is not really a “feminine style” and this stereotype is still alive in most metal fans. It is less problematic for the sound technicians to work with male singers and roaring guitars behind them. Yes naturally I think this is a very good occasion, as not only we get to play in a huge venue in a good quality and sounding, but also have the chance to market our music to all the thousands of listeners that are fans of the genre.
M.S: MFVF is characterized mainly in hiring bands from so many different countries to come and play in Belgium, how’s the metal scene in your country? Would you recommend any bands for our readers?
Gabriella: The music scene is growing and getting better day by day, though it is still far from other what we may like to see or have seen in different countries. There are very good bands in Hungary that are not able to emerge due to the lack of possibilities, and even if there are some big and known festivals like Sziget or Metalfest etc, these are also filled up by international bands. You can be a Hungarian band, you’ll rarely get the main stage.
M.S: You’ll be at the nine edition of MFVF, which bands would you like to see?
Gabriella: I would definitely like to see Amaranthe, We have already seen them Live here in HUngary with Kamelot, and Evergrey, that was very impressive!. Of course Diabulus in Musica who we made friendship at MetalFest here in Hungary, although I have not been able to see their show because I was getting ready for our own, but, if I get a chance I will try to do it now!
M.S: Concerning your show, what can the audience find on stage?
Csaba: We do no use any special effects or live orchestra if that’s what you ask, though I hope we will have the chance to play with a real orchestra. Actually we are amongst the few bands who try to keep it as clean as possible on stage with almost no gear in our way, so ‘I’d say Pure 100% VelvetSeal. We have a couple of surprises so lets see what fits into the schedule!
M.S: I guess you are playing tracks from your first album “Lend me your wings”, what could you tell us about it?
Gabriella: Lend me Your wings was our debut album, that we released soon after the band was formed. It was released in 2009 May although the master version was already ready in 2008 Aug, but we had some things coming in the way of the release so it took time to get everything done properly. Although the lyrics all revolve around a similar story and musically the tracks are similar still it is not a concept album. Since then we would have done of course lot of things differently but still, no matter how many albums you release in your life the first one will always „your first” and special.
M.S: This album was recorded 2 years ago, haven’t you thought about recording a new one soon? Do you already have new material? Will we be able to listen to new stuff at MFVF?
Csaba: in fact, we are in the Studio working on our album since quite a while now. I have been working on the guitars now and the symphonic arrangements, the drums are already finished, and most of the bass tracks as well. The thing is this is a very long process we have already recorded most of the album, and we were supposed to finish and release early this year, but unfortunately something always came up that delayed the whole thing. It is also fortunate because this way a lot of the tracks have been elaborated and matured with time, so it is going to be a very good progress in the bands life once it gets released. We will definitely play some new songs from the album, though as you said it will also have the songs from our previous album
M.S: What would you say people to attend the festival?
Gabriella: Because no other Hungarian band has ever made it to this festival, and you probably are curious to see what we can do, But jokes aside, there is no other festival currently in the world with so only female singers and great names and legends like Doro or Therion found all on one stage for three days. This is must for anyone who is into Female fronted metal.
M.S: After the festival, which are your more immediate projects?
Gabriella: We are finishing the album as soon as we get home, release the first videos for the tracks from the second album, I believe we will also have a couple of gigs in Hungary untill the end of the year.
