M.S: ¡Hola! Es un placer hacer una entrevista con vosotros … Cómo va? ¿Cómo está funcionando el nuevo CD?
L.M: Antes de nada querríamos dar las gracias a Metal Symphony por la entrevista, os agradecemos de verdad vuestro apoyo. Hemos estado ocupados, concentrados en darle visibilidad a Skin Deep. Las cosas van bien.
M.S:¿Cuál ha sido la respuesta inicial de los medios al nuevo album? ¿Habeis leído alguna crítica de él?
L.M: Todas las críticas que hemos recibido han sido muy muy positivas. Aunque no podemos complacer a todo el mundo estamos muy contentos con la primera reacción de los medios.
M.S: ¿Y qué tal fue el proceso de composición del disco? ¿Cómo os lo montáis para hacer los temas? Contadnos…
L.M: Los 4 escritores de la banda (Toni, Damon, David y Nat) se juntan, tocan y sacan ideas para nuevas canciones; otras veces uno de los cuatro viene con una parte de guitarra, de piano o una melodía escrita y se la presenta al resto de la banda.
M.S: Estáis muy influenciados por la música de los 80. En tu opinión, que hace a ese periodo de música tan especial?
L.M: Era música que estaba escrita y compuesta muy bien, canciones que se te grababan en la cabeza y que hoy también lo harían. Los 80 han sido y serán una gran parte de la historia del rock.
M.S: Como describirias el album con tus propias palabras?
L.M: Skin Deep es un viaje a través de la lujuria, la pérdida, el amor y el autodescubrimiento. Es rock directo que te engancha y excita. Es el tipo de cd que hace que conduzcas tu coche más rápido y que sueñes con el que te gustaría tener.
M.S: Respecto a las letras, ¿Cuál es la temática de las letras? Cuéntanos por favor.
Skin Deep – necesito decir más dame algo, dame algo – oh sí, esta habla de pura lujuria
Against the wall – habla de no conseguir lo que quieres y de tener la fuerza de seguir adelante
Out of control – sobre esos primeros meses en los que no piensas en la comida y la única emoción es la de sentir la pasión que te da algo nuevo
Defenseless – trata sobre aceptar el hecho de que te has enamorado de alguien y, siendo consciente de ello, saber que vas a perder una parte de ti mismo – es excitante y da miedo
Keep me running – habla de saber mantener el fuego en una relación porque si no algún otro lo hará
All I want – trata de la certeza de estar abandonando a alguien que amas y de saber que no es la adecuada para ti
Something u should know – habla sobre darse cuenta de que todavía quieres a alguien a quien dejaste y de que estabas equivocado por darlo por sentado
Love games – oh, esta habla de estar orgulloso y de jugar haciendo creer que no te importa
Ok to cry – en la que entiendes que las lágrimas y la pena son una respuesta natural y saludable a algunos de los problemas de esta vida
M.S: ¿Que canción te gusta mas tocar en este nuevo álbum? ¿Y cuál fue la más dura de grabar?
L.M: Esta pregunta es difícil. Realmente disfruto tocándolas todas, pero si tuviera que elegir una me quedaría con “Love Games”. El tema de Skin Deep más difícil de grabar fue “All I want”, musicalmente es una balada muy poderosa, pero con todas esas partes de guitarra y teclados fue dura de grabar.
M.S: Para los que no haya escuchado Lipstick Magazine aun, ¿Qué canción les dirías que escucharan del grupo para tener una idea de que como suena la banda?
L.M: Sin lugar a dudas “Skin Deep”
M.S: Que tipo de audiencia tiene Lipstick Magazine?
L.M: Lipstick Magazine ha realizado 15 conciertos nacionales en los últimos 10 meses con diferentes géneros y cabezas de cartel. El público responde muy bien a nuestra música, hacemos un gran show en directo y nos encanta interactuar con la gente, así que estoy seguro de que eso ayuda, y a eso hay que añadir que tenemos una vocalista realmente preciosa, que creo que es lo que más ayuda.
M.S: ¿En que lugares tiene Lipstick Magazine mejor aceptación y esta más seguida masivamente por los metaleros?
L.M: Lipstick ha tenido una gran respuesta en EEUU. Y estamos empezando a ver datos sobre las descargas digitales que nos dicen que la cosa está yendo de maravilla en Europa.
M.S: ¿Cómo ves la escena metálica actualmente en tu país?
L.M: Cada día mejor. Parecía que había muerto pero vuelve a resurgir definitivamente para volver a donde debería estar. Date cuenta de que muchas de las grandes bandas de los 80 están haciendo nuevos álbumes y girando de nuevo, conectando a las nuevas generaciones con el que fue un gran momento para la música y para el que eran demasiado jóvenes para apreciarlo.
M.S: ¿En qué estado crees que está música rock y los conciertos?
L.M: Hay muchos sitios en los que la música rock y los directos están yendo bien, pero tengo que decir que la mejor respuesta ha venido de California y NY.
M.S: Hay planes de tour para presentar este disco?
L.M: La banda ha encabezado algunos shows desde el lanzamiento de Skin Deep. Lispsitck también abrirá para Symphony X el 20 de noviembre de este año. También estamos trabajando en algunos grandes directos para Diciembre y Enero.
M.S: Después de la promoción de este álbum, que teneis pensado hacer? Cuales son vuestros planes futuros?
L.M: Tenemos Skin Deep en Walmart, Best Buy, ITunes y Amazon. Para nosotros, como banda, son los mejores sitios donde podemos estar. Seguiremos girando y vendiendo el CD. Y también escribiendo nuevo material para el próximo trabajo.

M.S: Hi guys! It’s a enormous pleasure to have an interview with you! What’s going on? How it’s working the new CD?
L.M: First we would like to thank Metal Symphony for the Interview, we greatly appreciate the support. We have been keeping busy, concentrating on getting Skin Deep exposed. Things are going well.
M.S: What have been the initial media reactions for the new album? Did you read any reviews of it?
L.M: We have and just about everyone one of the reviews that have come out have been very, very positive. Although we can’t please everyone we were very content with the early media reactions.
M.S: How did the writing process work? Did someone bring in a song to work on or was it spontaneous, ideas coming from jamming and just playing
together?
L.M: The 4 writers in the band (Toni, Damon, David and Nat) will get together and jam and come up with ideas for new songs, other times one of the 4 will come in with a guitar part, piano part or melody written and present it to the others in the band.
M.S: You are very influenced by the music of the 80´s.In your opinion what makes the music of that period so special?
L.M: It was music that was written and composed very well, songs that stuck in our heads then and always will. The 80’s for rock music was and will always be a huge part of history.
M.S: How would you describe the album with your own words?
L.M: Skin deep is a jouney through lust, loss , love and self discovery .It is straight ahead rock and and reaches out to grab you and excite you .Its the kind of cd that makes you drive your car faster and fantasize about the one you want.
M.S: About the lyrical aspect, what are the theme of the lyrics? Tell us please.
L.M: skin deep – need i say more gimme some gimme some oh ya this one is about pure LUST
against the wall – is about not getting what you want and having the strength to move forward
out of control – about those first months were food is not a thought and feeling the passion that newness provides is your only emotion
defenseless – is about accepting the fact that you have fallen for someone and with that realization knowing you lose a piece of yourself its scary and hot
keep me running – is about paying attention to keeping the fire burning in a relationship because if you don’t someone else will
all i want – is about knowing your leaving someone you love and knowing they are not right for you
something u should know – is about realizing you still want someone that you left and you were wrong because you took it for granted
love games – oh its about being proud and playing games pretending you don’t care when you do
ok to cry – understanding that tears and sorrow are a natural and healthy response to some of life’s problems
M.S: Which song do you enjoy playing the most of this new album? And which was the hardest one to record?
L.M: That’s a tough one. I really enjoy playing them all but if I had to pick one I would say “Love Games”. The hardest song off of Skin Deep to record had to be “All I Want” musically it is a great power ballad but with all the keyboard parts and guitar parts it was a tough one to record.
M.S: For those who haven’t heard LIPSTICK MAGAZINE yet, which song would you tell them to listen to for them to have an idea of how the band sounds like?
L.M: Definitely “Skin Deep”
M.S: Which aundience has LIPSTICK MAGAZINE?
L.M: Lipstick Magazine has played 15 national shows in the last 10 months with different genres as headliners. There audiences respond very well to our music, we put on a great live show and love to interact with the crowd so I’m sure that that helps, plus we have a very beautiful lead vocalist so that also majorly helps.
M.S: In what land does LIPSTICK MAGAZINE had better acceptation and a massive support by the metalheads?
L.M: Lipstick has had a great response in the US. We are starting to also see early numbers from digital downloads which tells us that things are going well out in Europe.
M.S: How do you see the Metal scene in your country?
L.M: Getting better, seems like it died out for awhile there but definitely getting back to where it should be. I am noticing many of the big 80’s rock bands writing new albums and out touring again, getting the younger generation in tune with what was a great time for music that they may have been a little to young to have appreciated.
M.S: What state do you think rock music and live gigs are in at the moment?
L.M: There are many locales in which rock music and live gigs are doing well in, but I would have to say that the best response would be out of California and NY
M.S: Do you already Have any touring plans to support the new album?
L.M: The band has headlined a few shows since the release of Skin Deep. Lipstick will also be opening up for Symphony X on 11/20/08. We are also working on some big shows for December and January
M.S: After promoting this album, what do you intend to do? Which are your future plans?
L.M: We have Skin Deep in Walmart, Best Buy, ITunes and Amazon. To us as a band that is the absolute best places that you can get into. We will continue to tour and market the CD. We are also writing new material for the next CD.
