M.S: Como todavía no habéis tocado en España, ¿podríais presentaros a nuestros lectores? Decidnos algo sobre cómo y cuándo se formó el grupo, vuestra situación actual, el trabajo…
System Divide se creó en el verano de 2008 por mi marido (Sven De Caluwe), yo misma (Miri Milman), el batería Mike Heller (Malignancy) y el guitarrista Cole Martínez (Years Of Fire). Grabamos nuestro primer EP “The Collapse” en otoño de 2008 y lo sacamos en abril de 2009, no mucho después de que se filmase un vídeo para nuestra canción “The Apex Doctrine” y luego, inmediatamente, firmamos con Metal Blade. Entramos en el estudio en noviembre de 2009 para grabar nuestro álbum debut “The Conscious Sedation” y lo sacamos en septiembre de 2010.
La banda empezó de gira en el verano de 2010, nuestro primer tour incluía 16 actuaciones por Canadá con Aborted y Augury. En febrero de 2011 seguimos con nuestra 3ª gira norteamericana patrocinada por “Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock and Metal” de Revolver Magazine que incluía a tres grupos con cantantes femeninas: “In This Moment”, “Straight Line Stitch” y “Sister Sin”.

M.S: ¿Cómo se puso en contacto con vosotros la organización de MFVF? ¿Les mandásteis primero vuestro material? ¿U os llamaron? Estoy seguro/a de que estáis más que orgullosos por participar en este festival que se celebra cada año, ¿me equivoco?
Los organizadores de MFVF están familiarizados conmigo y mi trabajo de antes, cuando actuaba con mi anterior grupo “Distorted”, habían oído de “System Divide”, les gustó y nos invitaron a participar en la edición de este año. De hecho estoy muy entusiasmado porque tengo curiosidad por ver cómo responde el público ante nosotros y nuestra música, porque “System Divide” no es el típico grupo con cantante femenina.
M.S: Hoy en día, ¿diríais que tener mujeres en un grupo de metal os deja en un segundo puesto respecto al resto de grupos de la escena del metal? Quiero decir, en el resto de los festivales de metal nos podemos encontrar sólo 2 ó 3 mujeres al frente de grupos. ¿Consideráis que MFVF es una buena forma, para grupos como el vuestro, de tener la oportunidad de tocar en grandes escenarios?
No creo que el tener mujeres se haga algo más difícil para un grupo… quiero decir, también hay trabajo que hacer con el estilo musical en ese particular evento o gira. Si tocases en un concierto en un festival de death metal a muerte, sería muy raro, pero hemos estado dando grandes giras por todo el estado, hemos tocado en grandes locales junto con diferentes grupos y no hemos tenido ningún problema, las opiniones fueron diversas, pero tenemos todo ese tiempo, la mezcla de estilo en nuestra música no es muy fácil de digerir algunas veces…
M.S: MFVF se caracteriza principalmente por contratar grupos de diferentes países para que vayan a tocar a Bélgica, ¿cómo es la escena del metal en vuestro país? ¿Recomendáis algunas bandas a nuestros lectores?
El panorama del metal israelí va cambiando con el tiempo, siempre veo caras nuevas cada vez que voy a conciertos. Tenemos muchos grupos de death metal y pienso que es el género principal que lidera el escenario. Me gustaría recomendar algunos grupos que son grandes amigos míos: PHANTOM PAIN, ONOMA, BEEF and THE FADING. ¡Todos ellos hacen buena música!
M.S: Estaréis en la novena edición del MFVF, ¿qué grupos os gustaría ver?
Deseando ver a mis grandes amigos de Draconian y me encantaría ver “Dead Lock”, pero desgraciadamente llegaremos el día después de que toquemos un concierto en Holanda, el día antes.
M.S: Con respecto al concierto, ¿qué se va a encontrar el público en el escenario?
A seis trastornados vestidos como Caperucita Roja ofreciendo caramelos a los niños, bailando movimientos Zumba y rezando para que llueva…:)
M.S: Me imagino que tocaréis canciones de vuestro primer disco “The Conscious Sedation”, ¿qué nos podéis decir de él? 
“The Conscious Sedation” es un disco que trata de muchos temas con respecto a nuestra rota sociedad, muestra maneras extremas de como “cada uno mismo” ocupa su lugar en nuestra rutina diaria. La gente solo se preocupa de lo suyo y no se molesta en mirar en otros asuntos que no les concierne. “The Conscious Sedation” resalta esos fallos de nuestra sociedad y de la humanidad en general.
M.S: ¿Qué le diríais a la gente que va a asistir al festival?
¡Venid y apoyad a los grupos, apoyad a la música y dadnos todo vuestro dinero!
M.S: Después del festival, ¿cuáles son vuestros proyectos más inmediatos?
Justo después del festival, volamos hacia Israel para tocar en un concierto en Tel Aviv, luego empezaremos a trabajar en nuestro segundo disco. Tenemos otra gran gira por Estados Unidos en abril de 2012 y, esperemos, estar en varios festivales europeos en verano.

I’m doing well, thank you! it’s nice to talk to you again
M.S: As you haven’t played in Spain yet, could you introduce yourselves to our readers? Tell us something about when and how the band was formed, your present situation and work…
System Divide was formed in Summer 2008 by my husband (Sven De Caluwe), myself (Miri Milman), Drummer Mike Heller (Malignancy) and Guitar player Cole Martinez (Years of Fire). We recorded our first EP ‘The Collapse in the fall of 2008 and released in on April 2009, not long after we filmed a video for our song ‘The Apex Doctrine’ and then got signed to Metal Blade right away. We entered the studio in November 2009 to record our debut album ‘The Conscious Sedation’ and released it on September 2010.
The band started touring on summer of 2010, our first tour included 16 shows around Canada with Aborted and Augury. On February 2011 we left on our second one month tour throughout North America with Eluveitie and 3 inches of Blood. On April 2011 we left on our 3rd North American tour sponsored by ‘ Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock and Metal’ by Revolver Magazine that included 3 other female fronted bands ‘In This Moment’, ‘Straight Line Stitch’ and ‘Sister Sin’.
M.S: If someone wants to gather info about you, where could they listen to you or buy your albums?

M.S: How did the MFVF organization get in touch with you? Did you send them first your material? Or did they call you? I’m sure you’ll be more than proud participating in this festival which is held every year, right?
The organizers of FVMF are familiar with me and my work from before when I performed with my previous band ‘Distorted’, they heard of SYSTEM DIVIDE and liked it and invited us to participate in this year’s edition. I’m actually very excited because I’m very curious to see how the crowd will respond to us and our music because SYSTEM DIVIDE is not the typical female fronted band.
M.S: Nowadays, would you say that having women in a metal band leaves you in a second place concerning the rest of the bands in the metal scene? I mean, in the rest of the metal festivals you can find only 2 or 3 women fronted bands. Do you consider MFVF as a good way for bands like yours to have the chance to play in big venues?
I don’t think that having women in bands makes it harder on the band… I mean it also have a lot to do with the music style on that particular event or tour. If I would play a show in a die-hard death metal fest it would seem a bit odd, but so far we’ve been having some great big tours in the State, we’ve played in many big venues alongside different bands and we didn’t come across anything weird, the opinions were diverse but we get that all the time, the mixture of style in our music is not very easy to grasp sometimes…
M.S: MFVF is characterized mainly in hiring bands from so many different countries to come and play in Belgium, how’s the metal scene in your country? Would you recommend any bands for our readers?
The Israeli metal scene keeps on changing all the time, I always see new faces every time I go to concerts. We have a lot of death metal bands I think that is the main genre that rules the scene. I would like to recommend some bands that are good friends of mine: PHANTOM PAIN, ONOMA, BEEF and THE FADING. They all play great music!
M.S: You’ll be at the nine edition of MFVF, which bands would you like to see?
Looking forward to meet my good friends from Draconian and I would love to see Dead Lock but unfortunately we will only arrive the day after since we play a concert in Holland the day before.
M.S: Concerning your show, what can the audience find on stage?
6 deranged people dressed as little red riding hood offering candies to little kids, dancing Zumba moves and praying for rain…:)
M.S: I guess you are playing tracks from your first album “The Conscious Sedation ”, what could you tell us about it?
The conscious Sedation is an album that deals with a lot of issues regarding our broken society, shows in extreme ways how ‘everyone to himself’ takes place in our daily routine. People only care what’s in their own plate and don’t bother to look after matters that don’t concern them. ‘The Conscious Sedation’ is just pointing out the failures in our society and mankind in general.
M.S: What would you say people to attend the festival?
Come support the bands, support music and give us all your money!
M.S: After the festival, which are your more immediate projects?
Right after the festival we all fly to Israel to play a show in Tel Aviv, then start working on our second album. We have another big US tour on April 2012 and hopefully some European fests this summer.
